Hideaway Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary is a tiny coral atoll surrounded by clear turquoise water, coral reefs and thousands of tropical fish. The resort is the custodian of one of Vanuatu’s only marine sanctuaries and home to the world’s only Underwater Post Office. Coral reefs ideal for snorkeling or scuba diving are accessible from the Island shore and is to thousands of tropical fish who are more than happy to show you around.
Accommodation on Hideaway Island is scattered amongst tropical palm trees and plants that cover the island. The style and standard ranges from private oceanside bungalows overlooking the water to quad share dormitories with shared facilities.

Hideaway Island Resort is a 15 minute by bus or taxi from Port Vila, the capital city of Vanuatu or 10 minutes from the airport.

ONE BEDROOM OCEANSIDE BUNGALOWS: All 1 bedroom bungalows have spectacular views over the water with views of either sunrise or sunset. With interior floor space of approximately 60 sq m, they are more than generously proportioned. The bathroom, living area and separate bedroom help you make the most of your prime position next to the ocean. Furnishings include a fridge and coffee/tea making facilities, comfortable sofa setting and table and chairs in the living area. If required there is room for an additional double bed or bunks.
TWIN SHARE ROOMS (twin-dorms): 6 twin-share beach units - ideal for the budget conscious couple or single traveller who’d like a little more privacy. Right on the beach in a prime position for lazing and watching the world go by. Wide wrap-around covered veranda with tables and chair. The rooms are furnished with a double or twin beds, a small cupboard, and hand basin. Separate shower & toilet facilities are close by. To improve airflow within the rooms, the central walls do not go all the way to the vaulted ceiling, so some sound travels between adjacent rooms.
QUAD SHARE ROOMS: 6 quad-share rooms in a newly rebuilt facility. Ideal for the budget conscious traveller to mix and meet people during their stay, or for groups wanting a relaxed trip away together. All rooms contain two sets of bunk beds and a clothes locker. The facility includes a communal area and separate male & female showers/toilets.
There is also a two Bedroom Oceanside Villa with private Swimming Pool located on the southerly point of the island, with beautiful 180 degree views to the east and west. The perfect choice for honeymoon, corporate getaway, two couples travelling together, or family.

BEACH RESTAURANT & BAR : The food served up in the “On the Beach” bar and restaurant is just one thing that keeps guests coming back here year after year. Where else can you sit with your toes in the sand overlooking beautiful coral reefs and crystal clear tropical waters while enjoying first rate food served up by a chef who’s worked around the world, but now calls Vanuatu home. A real local character, Bruce is as likely to share his humour with you as he is his food. Either is a real treat, and if you can get both, you’re bound to have a great night.

There’s plenty to keep you occupied on the island. House guests have free use of our snorkel gear, ocean kayaks, mari-cat sailboat and beach volleyball. If you’d like to watch a movie, a DVD can be set up for you in the reception lounge area. Want to explore Vanuatu? The tour desk has information on other tours and activities such as game or reef fishing, sunset cruises, village walks, visiting the Cascade Waterfalls or having a round of golf.

Diving |

Hideaway Island has a reputation for being a relaxed paradise for divers and snorkelers alike. Where else in the world can you roll out of bed and be SCUBA diving in less than 15 minutes. There are more than 16 dive sites all within 15 minutes of the shore. The resort runs scheduled single tank dives at 8:30am, 10:30am and 2:00pm every day, regardless of the number of divers going out. Your surface interval can then be spent just relaxing on the beach. Decide you want to dive at the last minute? No problem, just walk up, sign-up, gear-up and the staff will have you in the water in no time. Their fully equipped dive store has everything you’ll need to accommodate all aspects of your dive experience. **Hideaway Island now offers NITROX diving**
